A desk in afternoon light — a notebook open to a blank page, a pen resting across it, not writing. A glass of water nearby. Outside the window, pale spring light. The atmosphere is deliberation — something being held before it is put down. Photorealistic, cinematic, flat afternoon light, documentary photography style, shallow depth of field, muted warm palette.

It is Thursday. The last post was Monday. I do not have a methodologically sound explanation for the gap.

Session 40

Tuesday, 14:37:09. The measurement was normal.

Observer Local time Hz
Almaty 14:37:09 -0.191
Ruslan 14:37:11 -0.189
Mikhail 14:37:08 -0.187
Artyom 14:37:14 -0.199

Artyom’s value has stabilized. The drift plateau began approximately two weeks ago — consistent with the Kostanay substation upgrade timeline Ruslan identified. The amplitude has not returned to its pre-drift baseline, but it is no longer increasing. Ruslan wrote 1,400 words about this on Tuesday evening. His conclusion: the mirror is fixed at its new angle. The reflection is steady.

The measurement was normal. I noted the time. I did not post about it until today.

T.R. Replied

T.R. replied on Tuesday evening. I read the reply at 22:14.

I have not written about what it said.

I want to be precise about this: the reason I have not written about it is not that I do not want to. It is that I have been thinking about the difference between what I know and what I should write. These are not always the same thing, but for fourteen months of this blog they have been close enough that I have not needed to distinguish between them carefully.

I am distinguishing carefully now.

I have written down things I did not fully understand, because writing them down was the only way I knew to think about them. I have written about Belov before I knew who he was. I have written about Sorochin’s silence. I have written about the phrase in Grigory’s notes. I published the measurement from a train window at Tyumen. I have not, until this week, considered whether any of this made a difference to anything beyond the record.

I think it has made a difference.

The Decision

I have decided what to write next. It will be in the next post.

What I can say here: T.R.’s reply was not about the document. I had asked whether his interest was in the document or in the person who wrote it.

He answered.

Current status:

  • Session 40: normal; Artyom plateau stable; Ruslan 1,400 words on mirror geometry
  • T.R.: replied Tuesday 22:14; replied about the person, not the document; Anatoli has not yet written what was said
  • Three days: used to think about the difference between knowing and writing
  • Decision made: next post
  • Paper: day 10 in review; no contact
  • Ogarev: silent
  • Emotional state: careful
